11-year-old Syrian table tennis player qualifies for Olympics

Eleven-year-old Syrian table tennis player, Hend Zaza has qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after defeating her opponent , who is almost four times her age, 42-year-old Lebanon’s Mariana Sahakian 4-3 in the women’s final in Amman .

The table tennis player would become the first Syrian player to compete at the table tennis event at the Olympics.

Born on Jan. 1, 2009, Zaza, who is ranked 155th would be the fifth-youngest competitor in history, and the youngest since Romanian figure skater Beatrice Hustiu in 1968.

The Olympic women’s singles table tennis tournament will commence on July 25 and end with the final on July 30
