Aruna Quadri, others get $82,000 Olympic grant


Africa number one table tennis player, Aruna Quadri , and 2019 Africa games gold medalist , Omotayo Olajide are among the 13 listed athletes that benefitted from $82,000 training grants from the International Olympic Committee, ahead of the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo .


Also listed are Amusan Oluwatobiloba, Ofili Favour, Nathaniel Oghenewegba and Nathaniel Glory from athletics, Adekuoroye Odunayo, Adeniyi Aminat and Oborodudu Blessing (Wrestlers)


Aruna Quadri and Olajide Omotayo from table tennis, Adamu Abubakar, Otuadinma Uzoamaka and Nwosu Chinazum from taekwondo and weightlifter Adesanmi Oluwatosin.


The Nigeria Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity Department of the IOC and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa sustained the initiative of providing Olympic training scholarships for elite Nigerian athletes.


The 2020 Olympics , which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic would now hold from July 28 to August 8 in Tokyo
