The Director General of the Confederation of African Athletics CAA Lamine Faty has called for strict compliance of the Constitution of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Faty made the call at the opening of the AFN Extra Ordinary Congress in Agulu, Anambra state said that his participation in the congress is official as stated in the Constitution of the Confederation of African Athletics.
In his remarks, Faty said that the International bodies like the World Athletics and Confederation of African Athletics will monitor closely the follow-up after the Congress with keen interest.
“My presence among you is amply justified and this gives me the opportunity to solemnly invite you to ensure strict compliance with the Constitution of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria which must guide your work.
“The implementation of this fundamental charter must be your breviary in the conduct of the work and in the various positions that we all holding within our national federations. In this respect, there is no doubt that the international guardianship bodies like World Athletics and the Confederation of African Athletics will follow the conclusions of this congress with great interest and attention.
“However, I remain convinced that President Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and his team will be able to deploy all the means possible for a success of the congress bearing in mind the unity and cohesion of the entire family of Nigerian athletics without exception”.
Mr. Faty on behalf of the President of the Confederation of African Athletics Mr. Hamad Kalkaba Malboum , thanked the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, especially the Ministry of Sports, sponsors for their unfailing support for the development of African athletics in general and Nigerian in particular.
