D’Tigers qualify for 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Championship

Currently ranked number one in Africa, Nigeria’s D’Tigers became the first team to qualify for the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Championship after defeating South Sudan 75-70pts in Monastir, Tunisia.

 

The team led by Head Coach, Mfon Udofia, started on an impressive note with 3 straight victories in group D over South Sudan, Rwanda and Mali.

 

Yesterday’s win makes it a double header over South Sudan, in their first ever meeting, D’Tigers stole the show with Ike Iroegbu leading the offensive with 13pts, 8 assists, 7 rebs and a steal while Caleb Agada scored 16pts and 2 assists.

 

The Mfon Udofia led side held their head high to grind out a well-deserved win, 18-9, 20-21, 19-18, 18-21, however, the South Sudanese, staged a comeback in the last quarter, and trailed by one point at a stage, but D’Tigers held their nerves to triumph 75-70.
