Eberechi breaks silence on N10m largesse


Following the recent controversy over the 10 million naira, the Chairman of Air Peace Airline, Allen Onyema, gift the 1999 set of the Super Falcons in honor of their superlative performance at the 1999 Women World Cup in America, Former Super Falcons defender and the Sweeper of the team, Eberechi Opara have condemned the actions of some her teammates in excluding the names of five members of the squad from the largesse.

In a letter to our correspondent, Eberechi, who was denied a share of the largesse wrote that those involved in the atrocity should acknowledge their wrongdoing.

“I don’t know how our so called teammates and friends could commit such atrocity and still insisting that they’re right. You need to accept that you did wrong and apologize for peace to reign. Moving forward we don’t want something like this to repeat itself that is why this issue should be settled amicably “

The US based former defender also disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation should intervene while those excluded from the largesse should be refunded.

“Of course, I want my own share of the money so, I want NFF to help us to please find solution to this matter. The money MUST be returned and shared accordingly to all of us “

Eberechi Opara was part of the Nigeria women’s national football team at the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and at the 2000 Summer Olympics .

    If the allegation is true , then the ladies didn’t do well . They know themselves , they know exactly their team mates that makes up the Olympics team . The gift is supposed to be shared by all members of the Olympics team . The NFF should intervain and do the needful .
