Eluid Kipchoge crowned Male Athlete of the year


Kenyan’s Eluid Kipchoge has won the Male Athlete of the year for the second consecutive year .

The 35-year-old Long distance runner was crowned last night in Monaco at the 2019 World Athletics Award ahead of four other finalists for the prestigious award .

During the course of the year , In April , Kipchoge won the 2019 London Marathon with a record time of 2:02:37 , the second fastest Marathon time of all time behind the 2:01:39 world record time he set in 2018 at the Berlin Marathon .

In October , though the effort was not recognized as an official record under the World Athletics , Kipchoge became the first distance runner to run under the two hours mark by crossing the finishing in 1:59:40 at the Ineos Challeneg in Vienna , Austria .

Although , he wasn’t present at the venue of the award Kipchoge expressed his delight in winning

“I hope I inspired the human race,” he said. “I’m just really happy for making history. I hope it was a big inspiration to the next generation.”
