On Friday , 15th , the Gymanstics events  at the sixth National Youth games taking place at the University of Ilorin ended with glamour and excitements among  over forty athletes that participated at the events , even  athletes that didn’t win medals  were excited to be part of the annual competition  .

With thirty-seven medals won by eleven states  according to the results shared to  journalists , Delta has the highest number of Gold medals  while FCT , who won thirteen medals came second with the highest number of silver medals .

Munachi Obiefuna , who led the Federal Capital to top  the medal table ahead of Ogun  in 2019 was instrumental  to their wondrous out few days ago .

Surprisingly , Team Delta , who finished  eighth  at the fifth edition with two silver medals won a total of ten medals to finish top of the gymnastics events .

11-year-old girl, Avani Goel  won three out of the five gold medals for team delta , she won the medals in aerobics, vault and power tumbling categories .

Lagos , who dominated the gymnastics events in the two previous editions won four medals , a far cry from the medals won when Abimbola Disu represented the state .

Team Lagos presented sixth athletes but could only get four medals  in an event that is synonym ynomnous  to the state .

From second position in 2019 with four gold and one bronze medal ahead of Lagos , Ogun  has affirmed their position in gymnastics with the youth games wining  two gold , two silver and one bronze medal to finish in the third position .

Among gymnasts that won medals  , three names stood out , two have already participated at the National Sports Festival in Edo .

In her second appearance at the Youth Games , Avani Goel , tutored by coach Micheal Ocheke won a silver and bronze medal for Bauchi state in 2019 , two years after at her debut at the National Sports Festival , Avani won a Gold and a Silver at the 2020 National Sports Festival in Edo state representing Delta state .

Her exploits at the gymnastics events earned Delta three gold out of the five  gold medals won by the state .

One of the household name in Gymnastics , Munachi Obiefuna has written her name in gold as she led FCT to another superlative performance to finish second at the gymnastics events , in 2019  , she won five out  the seven medals for the state .

The Anambra born gymnast won two silver and a bronze at the 2020 National Sports Festival, relatively unknown , Mustapha Oriyomi from Delta won three Gold  and a bronze medal in the boys; events .

Support for the gymnasts came in presence of Southwwest representative on the board of Nigeria gymnastcs Federation , Mrs Omowunmi Olalere commended the performance of the gymnasts and vouched that the federation will continue to create more awareness for the sports .

The sixth National Sports Festival will end on the 19th , October with the closing ceremony .
