Nigeria America Football Association has requested the partnership of the Lagos state Sports commission in the development of America football at the grassroot with focus on schools in all 6 educational district of the state.
In a letter submitted to the Lagos state sports Commission , the association requested for the assistance of the commission in the establishment of one of their projects in the state – The Secondary Schools Nigeria Flag Football League.
The Secondary Schools Nigeria Flag Football League plans to give the education districts in the state opportunities to be part the global American football market with all activities funded by the Nigeria America Football Association.
According to the letter, Lagos was chosen as the host and pilot of the initiative because of the remarkable track records in Schools and Sports partnership.
In response, the director of school Sports, Dr Oluyomi Oluwasanmi, at a strategic meeting held on Tuesday 6th July at the Rowe-Park Sports Center, said the initiative is in accordance with the commission’s plan for schools and Sports.
“At Lagos State Sports Commission, we preach “STAY IN SCHOOL, STAY IN SPORTS “that is the integration of education and sports and at the same time, we want to introduce new sports to them, so many of them (students) have heard about other sports so this is an opportunity for them to know about the new sport (America football)”.
The Secondary Schools Nigeria Flag Football League will kick of next year with the project plan of having three schools in each of the education districts.
