Nicola Adams retires over fears for her sight

Two-time Olympics Champion , Nicolas Adams of Great Britain has announced her retirement over fear for her sight .

The 37-year-old , who won Gold at the London 2012 Olympics and repeat same feat four years after cited fears over her sight as advised as the reason for her pre-mature retirement .

“I’ve been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss,” said Adams.

In 2017 , the Briton turned professional but as an amateur , the Leeds boxer won the Commonwealth , European and world titles , historically in 2016 , she became the first British boxer in 92 years to retain an Olympics title .

In an open letter addressed to the Yorkshire Evening post , she expressed her delight in representing her country .

“I’m immensely honoured to have represented our country – to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true… But it’s not without taking its toll on my body, and aside from the expected aches and pains – I’ve been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss “.

The WBO title holder  ended her career with five wins and a draw .
