The 2019 Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Volleyball Referees Association took place at the National Stadium in Lagos from the 7 -9 November .
The theme of the meeting “ Repositioning NVRA to meet Modern Day Officiating techniques “ and according to the Chairman of the Association , Timothy Samuel said .
“The gathering is about the upliftment of the association and introducing new equipments so that we can be at the standard of the World “
Against the belief that Nigeria Volleyball is below par compared to other Africa nations , Timothy said that Nigeria Volleyball is on the right track .
“ Volleyball to the glory of God is back to the old glory , with the effort of the President , Musa Nimrod . last year we started the league and it is here to stay , we just finished the phase one in Bauchi , where Sunshine of Ondo came first and the Nigeria Army , who are now promoted to the premiership “
He also stated that Nigeria Volleyball Premiership will start on the 21st of November .
In comparison with other Africa Nations , the chairman reaffirmed that Nigeria is among the best in the continent .
“ Nigeria U-19 Volleyball team is fourteenth in the World and our female beach volleyball is first in Africa as of today . Our National Team has resurfaced and changed , we finished fourth but at the next Africa games , we will come top ,”
As regards to the purchase of modern equipment to reposition the association to modern day officiating .
The Chairman said “ Part of the discussion at the AGM is that we want to meet the standards of the officiating of the world . we just purchased ear communication between referess that cost 400,000 thousand naira , we are also purchasing the code for electronics scores sheet , which implies that any match played anywhere in the world , we can watch it in Nigeria .
He concluded that the purchased equipments will be test run at the premiership .
Other stakeholders at the Annual general meeting is the representative of the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation , Mr Kehinde Lamidi , the Media Officer and Public Relation Officer of NVRA, Madam Gold Dappa , the Vice President of NVRA , Mohammed Racy Mohammed and Asoa Odigie James, the Public Relation Officer of Lagos state Council of Nigeria Volleyball Referee Association .
