Nigeria foremost female distance runner ,  Olude Fadekemi cross the line in 1:24:25 to become the first Nigerian female to reach the finished line of the maiden Onitsha City Marathon and the eighth overall behind seven Kenyans with Esther Chesang wining the female category in 1:15:15 .

Fadekemi , who won the first edition of the 10KM Women Run and placed second the following year , represented Nigeria in 2015 at the Second Youth African Championship in Mauritius –  wining Gold in 5KM racewalk .

In 2017 , she won the first Nigeria Female Athlete Category to cross the finish line at the Acess Bank Lagos City Marathon .

Coming second at the Onitsha Marathon is Deborah Pam from Plateau state with bib number 25 in a time of 1:25: 40 , her husband , Emmanuel Gyan was the first Nigeria to cross the finish line .

The Couple emerged tops in the male and female category as the first Nigerians to cross the finish line at the 7th Edition of the Okpekpe race .

Elizabeth Nuhu came third and 10th female overall in a time of 1:26:24 .
