It is a ceremonial match to herald the 2021 Principal Cup that would take place across the federation but the dazzling performance of the away team makes them a delight to watch .

 

The boys from Government College Kaduna stole the show at the Ceremonial Kickoff of the rejuvenated Principal Cup that took place at the Agege Stadium in Lagos on Friday.

 

Adamu Solomon led boys were poised than the home team, who were lucky to avoid a defeat in the 79th minutes of the match when the center referee pointed at an infringement in the penalty area to end the encounter in stalemate – an infringement which was judged by the away team as unworthy of a penalty .

Beyond the equalizer, the game was dominated by the visiting team with Jubril Abdullahi named  the man of the match.

 

In the 25th minutes, Ibrahim Shehu’s prowess yielded the fans’ anticipation for the first goal of the encounter when the striker, whose role model is Cristiano Ronaldo, dazzled past a defender before slotting it past the left side of the goalkeeper.

 

The boys from Government College’s dominance of the game are a flashpoint to the glory days of the Principal Cup.

“Definitely, I am satisfied, due to the weather, we came from a very windy area but the boys were able to endure the hot sun, definitely, I appreciate their effort “

 

Responding to WildFlower ,  on the ability of his lads to win the cup .

 

The coach, who is a civil defense officer said “definitely, I trust them and we can do better “

 

Table tennis, Badminton, and Athletics will be competed for among all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

 

The state finals will hold from 8th- 12th March, Zonal Finals 18th- 22nd March, while the finals takes place from 1st- 5th April 2021.
