Super Falcons: Ikpeba, Udeze berates NFF over Oparanozie’s exclusion

Super Falcons exclusion: NFF is not sincere – Desire Oparanozie

Criticisms continue to trail the exclusion of Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie, from the list of invited players for the friendly tournament in Turkey despite her sterling performances for Dijon in the French league.

Stakeholders believed the role she played in leading other super falcons’ player to a sit-in protest at the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup in France over unpaid bonuses and allowances is the reason for her exclusion.

It is also of the opinion that her statement on the disparities in payment between the Super Falcons and Super Eagles despite the former being the best in Africa caused a crack in her relationship with NFF.

But according to the NFF’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, the reasons behind the non-inclusion of the Dijon forward is solely based on performance and the prerogative of the coaches and had nothing to do with the protest in 2019.

” Oparanozie is still part of the team’s plans, and her non-inclusion has nothing to do with with the protest in France because she was not the only one involved “

Olajire aslo said the former captain need to keep working on her game.

“Selection of players is predominantly the prerogative of the coaches and not the NFF.

“She remains an important member of the women’s national side. I think she will just have to keep working on her game and, if she gets the opportunity, then push for consistent selection.”

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Francisca Ordega, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Onome Ebi, who are without clubs for over a year have been questioned.

Reacting to reasons given by NFF for her exclusion, Oparanozie, said, if her performance is the reason what are the names of players without a club for over a year doing on the list.

” Working on my game and push for consistent selection, those ones who’s been without club for over a year now, how many of their games did they work on over the past one year to merit their inclusion? When we’re spoilt for choice. Look for another one “, the 27-year- old striker concluded.
