Aruna Quadri seals two-year contract extension


This is the highest honour or award any Athlete  has ever received from the International Olympic Committee.
The International Olympics Committee has tag Nigeria’s sensational Ping Ponger and Africa number one player as Africa’s most successful Olympic table tennis player of all time.
This is just two decades after taking up the game on the street of Oyo, a state in Nigeria .
Aruna Quadri became the first Africa player to reach the quarter final of the Olympics after defeating tournament’s favourite, Tim Boll of Germany in a thrilling encounter; he defeated the world renowned German 4-2 , Tim Boll is three times Olympic Medal winner.
Earlier in 2016, Aruna has lost to his third round opponent Chuang Chih-Yuan in Germany 4-0 but he was able to defeat him at the Olympic with the same margin , the Chinese  is four-time World Tour Champion.
If there is anything that set Aruna apart, it is his resilience.
In the Quarter-final, the Oyo born ping ponger lost to the tournament’s number one player and the eventual winner, China’s Ma long , who won the Gold Medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics .
 2017 ITTF African Cup was another tournament Aruna proved he is the best ping ponger in Africa , he defeated Algeria’s Naim Karali (4-1). In the semi finals, He also defeated Egyptian player Mohamed El-beiali (4-3), qualifying for the finals. In the Finals, Aruna defeated long-time rival Omar Assar in a close match (4-3).
 Aruna won the event, and was crown the 2017 African-Cup Champion.
He almost repeated the same feat in 2018, losing to his exceptional rival, Omar Assar , 3-4 , finishing second
When asked what advice will he give to upcoming table tennis players , he said .
“For the ones who are getting support, I tell them I did not get this support, so they are going to be much better than me’’.
Aruna Quadri is Nigeria biggest sporting export for over a decade in a country where Football is almost next to God .
