Turkish Women’s Cup: Ikpeba, Udeze berates NFF over Oparanozie’s exclusion

Super Falcons’ first game at the Turkish Women’s Cup would be on Thursday against CSK Moscow but condemnation continues to trail the exclusion of Desire Oparanozie from the list of invited players for the annual event.

Stakeholders have continued to condemn the decision of the football body, joining the list is 1997 African footballer of the year, Victor Ikpeba, who said excluding Oparanozie, who has been consistent for her cub is wrong.

“There should be no sentiment about inviting Oparanozie for the tournament in Turkey. She remains the most consistent player on the team in terms of playing regular football.

The former Monaco player also mentioned that  Oparanozie has the right to a sit-in protest that happened at the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup in France over unpaid bonuses and allowances

“I see nothing wrong if Oparanozie decided to voice out her mind on the situation of the players during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.”

Super Falcons Exclusion: NFF Is Not Sincere – Desire Oparanozie

Sharing the same view is former Paok Salonika defender, Ifeanyi Udeze, the former left full back, said NFF’s decision is a draw back for Nigeria Football .

“There are things that shouldn’t happen in our football anymore because they’ll end up as drawbacks,”

“Oparanozie was the Captain to the World Cup and the only reason she has been dropped from the team is that she stood up for her teammates over their unpaid bonuses.

“As the captain, she didn’t come out to speak for herself; she was doing it for the team. That’s why scapegoating her is disgraceful.

“She is active for her club in France, she plays games and has scored goals, but the Falcons Coach is inviting players without clubs, who have not played for many several months.”
