WTT : Aruna Quadri, yet another landmark in the history of Africa table tennis


There are have been many landmarks in the illustrious career of Aruna Quadri, on Thursday 4th March, there is yet another.


Aruna, becomes the first African to qualifying for the quarter-finals of the of the WTT Contender Series in Doha on a day full of upsets.


The finest player ever from the African continent defeated Portugal’s Joao Geraldo 3-2  (10-12, 12-10, 12-10, 4-11, 11-6) in an explosive encounter to set another Africa record, the Nigerian gave all against the southpaw player, who also plays in the German Bundesliga TTC.


Born in Oyo, southwest Nigeria, the TTC RhönSprudel Maberzell Fulda player is Africa’s most successful Olympic table tennis player of all time after his incredible feat at the Rio Olympics for becoming the first Africa to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Olympics.


Another feat awaits Aruna as he is up in the quarter-finals against one of the best players in the world , Chinese Taipei’s Yun-Ju Lin on Friday March 5, 2021.
