After several postponement caused by the disappointment of a private firm in the eleventh hour to sponsor the 14th Edition in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic that precluded any social gathering in 2020.
The President of Aso Table Tennis Club, Dr Olusegun Ajuwon, OON, announced yesterday at the Nisa Wellness Center, Abuja , venue of the Press Conference, that the 14th Edition of the annual tournament would hold this year from Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 May, at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
According to the Chairman, this year edition ought to be the 17th Edition, the first time the tournament was postponed was in 2014 due to security challenges that happened on 14th April as a result of the Nyanya Bomb blast.
Apart from Players that would be representing their states, the organizer through the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation have extended invitations to military and paramilitary organizations.
It was also announced that the Minister of Youths and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare would be the guest of honour.
Late Seun Ajetunmobi is the defending champion in the men’s singles while Portugal based Cecilia Akpan-Otu is the defending champion in the women’s category.
