An early challenge but Bose Odusanya safely through


Lagos’s Bose Odunsanya was amongst the list of victors in day one at the 2021 Aso Table Tennis National Championship in Abuja, securing her spot in the last 32 of the women’s singles draw on the morning of Tuesday 4th May.


The no 6 seed was made to work hard in her opening round contest, facing opposition in form of Ondo’s Akinyinka Kehinde, an unseeded player, the latter did brilliantly well to win the first two sets (11- , 11-2) but it was the Asoju Oba Champion, who took the plaudits, wining the remaining games (14-12, 11-1, 11-6).


The Lagos team were not so lucky in Oyeniyi Kehinde as she was overpowered (11-4, 11-3, 10-12, 11-1) by Kwara’s Falana Iyanuoluwa.


It was double joy for the coach of Kwara , Kehinde Aiyelabegan, as his daughter, Sukurat Aiyelabegan won her match in three sets against (11-3 ,12-10, 11-8) against Grace David of Abuja .


In other table, it was an easy ride for Edo 2020 Women’s Singles Champion as she won Bukola Ajayi of Akwa Ibom 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-4).


Cross River’s Ofonme Ebong accounted for Ogun opposition in Oyetayo Funmilayo wining the first two set (15-13, 11-9), Oyetayo got a life line in the third set wining it (11-9) .


Whatever the Ogun player did in the third set, she couldn’t replicate it in the deciding set, losing the game (4-11)
